Gilles Meloche

The Verdun Maple Leafs were one of the League's original franchises.

Goaltender Gilles Meloche was the club's first true superstar and was named a first-team All-Star in his opening season.

Although they didn't enjoy much success in the standings, the Maple Leafs could still count on several offensively gifted players to excite the imagination of their fans. Serge MartelIn 1970-71, Serge Martel was one of nine players on the team to register 100 points. The following season, it was Richard Grenier who drew the most applause with 102 points in 61 games.

Like the St-Jérôme Alouettes, the Maple Leafs ceased its activities after the 1971-72 campaign.
