At the end of the 2010-11 season, after 8 years in Lewiston, in the United States, the MAINEiacs decided to terminate the franchise, a surprise for the junior hockey world. It was the end of one of the 5 original QMJHL franchises.

Originally, the team was named the Trois-Rivières Ducs and was a part of the QMJHL's inaugural season, in 1969-70. The franchise soon changed its name to the "Draveurs" after just a few years in Trois-Rivières.

The first great offensive superstars of the franchise were Jacques Royer, Richard Leduc and Luc Simard.

With the arrival of heralded head coach Michel Bergeron, the team won two regular season championships and two President Cup titles in back-to-back seasons (1977-78 & 1978-79) before moving to the "Palais des Sports" in Sherbrooke.

Once there, the team was renamed the "Faucons".

Right off the bat, the franchise earned its first regular season crown under head coach Guy Chouinard. The Faucons reached the League final but fell to the Laval Titan.

Before the start of the 1998-99 campaign, the team changed its name once more, this time adopting "Castors", invoking memories of the great Sherbrooke teams of the 1970's.
 
Thereafter, the owner of the team, Mark Just, asked the League to approve a move south of the border. The request was granted in 2003, when they moved to Lewiston (Maine, USA).

During the 2006-07 season, it was a dream...  The team leaded by the head-coach Clément Jodoin, won two consecutive championships: the first one in the regular season, then the playoff one, when they won 16 times in 17 games... almost perfect! But the Memorial Cup tournament was more difficult for the MAINEiacs, only one win in 4 games. Finally, the host team, the Vancouver Giants, won the Memorial Cup 2007.
