History 2009-2010

The Longueuil Chevaliers are the ancestors of the Victoriaville Tigres.

Established in 1982, the franchise's first head coach was none other than Jacques Lemaire, one of hockey's greatest minds. The team established a new league record by racking-up a total of 78 points in its inaugural season. The expansion Chevaliers went all the way to the President Cup final, falling to Verdun in five games.

The following season, the team was back in the finals, this time losing to Mario Lemieux and the Laval Titan.

Stéphane FisetThe third time was indeed the charm for the Chevaliers as they lifted the QMJHL championship trophy in 1987 by defeating the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in five contests.

After the season, Alexandre Daiglethe team moved to Victoriaville and the franchise was renamed the "Tigres". The move didn't slow them down, as they reached the League final in both 1989 and 1990. Goaltender Stéphane Fiset was outstanding during these two marvellous seasons.

Following a few disappointing campaigns, the arrival of Alexandre Daigle revived the club. He would later go on to become the 1st overall pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2001-02 season would be one of the franchise's best, principally in playoffs where they won 16 of their 22 games and wrapped-up their sensational season with a QMJHL championship. Danny Groulx & Carl Mallette - 2001-02The team would battle for the Memorial Cup. After losing its first two games, the Tigres won the tie-breaker to earn a spot in the semi-finals. Pierre-Luc Sleigher scored in overtime to lead Victoriaville past Erie 5-4. June 2021 - the Victoriaville Tigres celebrated for a second time, the quest of the President Cup. In the 6th game of the Final Series against Val-d'Or, it's the goal scored by Alex Beaucage that gave a 3-2 win in 2nd overtime to close the debate of this series versus the Foreurs. Benjamin Tardif received the Guy-Lafleur Trophy (Playoff MVP).

In 2022-23, goaltender Nathan Darveau proved to be the star of the Victoriaville team. With a goals-against-average of 2.34 and save percentage of .929 (2 franchise records), the QMJHL recognized Darveau as Goaltender of the Year, selecting him to the 1st All-Star Team.
