The beginnings of the Quebec Junior A League simply would no have been as successful without the powerful Quebec Remparts.

Right off the bat, they were a team to be reckoned with. With outstanding offensive outputs by All-Star forward Guy Lafleur leading the way (233 goals in his first two seasons), the Remparts were the talk of the town as several thousand fans enjoyed the show at the Colisée in Quebec City each game.

The Quebec Remparts captured the Memorial Cup in 1971 under the tutelage of head coach Maurice Filion.

During the franchise's first 8 seasons, the Remparts earned 7 berths in the President Cup final, winning it 5 times: 1969-1970, 1970-71, 1972-73, 1973-74 and 1975-76. They also captured the regular season championship on four occasions: 1969-70, 1970-71, 1972-73 and 1976-77.

With the arrival of the Quebec Nordiques (NHL), the Remparts quickly lost some of their thunder, so much so that the franchise ceased its activities for a period of three years before finally being transferred to Longueuil where they would be renamed the Collège Français.

After three seasons in Longueuil, the Collège Français defended their colours in Verdun where they won the President Cup in 1991-92, the franchise's 6th and last Cup. The team was disbanded in 1993-94.

In September 2021, the QMJHL has honoured Guy Lafleur. The League took the decision to retire the #4 weared by the Best Player in the first 50 years of the QMJHL, as declared by an Independant Commitee.
