La finale 2002 de la LHJMQ opposera Bathurst à Victoriaville

The 2002 QMJHL finale will present Acadie-Bathurst against Victoriaville

(2002-05-01 – CR & DD)

LHJMQ -  La série finale 4 de 7 de la coupe du Président opposera les champions de la conférence Frank-Dilio, le Titan d’Acadie-Bathurst, aux champions de la conférence Robert-LeBel, les Tigres de Victoriaville. La première joute de cette finale tant attendue sera disputée au Centre régional K.C. Irving de Bathurst, ce vendredi 3 mai à 19h30, heure locale. De plus, chacune des parties devrait se jouer à guichet fermé et, advenant le cas où la série nécessiterait 6 rencontres ou plus, la LHJMQ éclipserait ainsi son record d’assistance en séries de 284,056 spectateurs; record établi lors de l’année 2000. Depuis le début des présentes séries, 267,006 amateurs de hockey ont franchi les portes des différents amphithéâtres du circuit Courteau et ce, après 67 parties.

QMJHL – The President Cup finale will present the Frank-Dilio conference champions, the Titan, against the Robert LeBel conference champions, the Tigres. The first game will be on this Friday May 3rd at the K.C. Irving Centre in Bathurst, at 7:30pm local time. Also, each game would probably be sold out. If the series go over 6 games, the QMJHL will beat its attendance playoffs record of 2000, which were 284,056 spectators. Since the start of the current playoffs, 267,006 hockey fans went into the different QMJHL arenas and this, after 67 games.

Une 3e présence en finale en 4 ans pour le Titan

A 3rd participation in 4 years for the Titan in Bathurst

(2002-05-01 – CR & DD)

LHJMQ -  Depuis que le Titan est déménagé de Laval à Bathurst à l’aube de la saison 1998-99, les partisans de la péninsule acadienne ne manque pas d’action et de bon hockey. En effet, le Titan en est déjà à une 3e participation à la finale de la coupe du Président en seulement 4 saisons. Du côté des Tigres de Victoriaville, leur dernière présence à la grande finale remonte aussi loin qu’en 1990, alors que la formation des Bois-Francs était dirigée par Guy Chouinard.

Since the Titan moved from Laval to Bathurst at the start of the 1998-99 season, the Acadian fans are very spoiled and have the chance to see some good hockey. Indeed, the Titan is at its 3rd participation to the President Cup finale in only 4 seasons. For the Victoriaville Tigres, their last participation to the finale was in 1990 and Guy Chouinard was the head coach.

Le défenseur Danny Groulx des Tigres

est au sommet de la liste des pointeurs

Defenseman Danny Groulx is at the top of the markers

LHJMQ -  Avec 31 points depuis le début des présentes séries éliminatoires, le défenseur Danny Groulx des Tigres de Victoriaville occupe le premier rang des pointeurs des séries 2002 de la LHJMQ. Son coéquipier Matthew Lombardi est 2e  avec 11 buts et 25 points. Chez le Titan, l’attaquant recrue originaire de la Lettonie, Janis Sprukts, s’avère être le meilleur buteur avec 10 filets en 8 parties. Le défenseur Antoine Bergeron a, de son côté, amassé le même nombre de points que Sprukts, soit 16.

 

En terminant, Danny Groulx a participé jusqu’à ce jour à un imressionnant total de 72 parties en carrière en séries éliminatoires.  L’ancien porte-couleurs du Titan (1998-99) n’est plus qu’à 6 parties du record de 78 de Marc Bouchard (Chicoutimi – 1995 à 1998; Bathurst – 1999).

 

 

QMJHL – With 31 points since the start of the current playoffs, defenseman Danny Groulx from the Victoriaville Tigres is at the top of the 2002 playoffs markers. His team-mate Matthew Lombardi is 2nd with 11 goals and 25 points. For the Titan, forward Janis Sprukts is the best of his team with 10 goals in 8 games for 16 points the same as defenseman Antoine Bergeron.

LHJMQ -  Le gardien du Titan d’Acadie-Bathurst domine ses pairs en ce qui a trait aux statistiques.  En effet, Adam Russo, qui a enregistré 3 jeux blancs consécutifs face aux Remparts de Québec lors de la demi-finale de conférence, a conservé une moyenne de buts alloués de 1,50 depuis le début des éliminatoires 2002 et un pourcentage d’efficacité de ,951. Le record de la LHJMQ, pour la plus basse moyenne de buts alloués pour un gardien ayant joué un minimum de 8 parties en séries, est détenu par Robert Desjardins (Hull) qui avait enregistré une moyenne de 1,99 au printemps 1986.

Adam Russo who got 3 shutouts during the conference semi-finals against the Quebec Remparts, preserved a 1.50 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage. The QMJHL record for the best goals-against average in playoffs for a goaltender after 8 games is hold by Robert Desjardins. Bathurst : concession la plus titrée de l’histoire des séries de la LHJMQ

Bathurst: the most titled concession of the QMJHL

(2002-05-01 – CR & DD)

LHJMQ -  À la veille de sa 10e présence en finale de la LHJMQ, le Titan dont la concession originale a eu pignon sur rue à Laval pendant 27 saisons (de 1971-72 à 1997-98), est en quête d’un 6e titre de champions des séries éliminatoires. Le Titan a gagné la coupe du Président à Laval en 1984, 1989, 1990 et 1993. Depuis leur transfert à Bathurst, le Titan a remporté les grands honneurs lors des séries de 1999.

 

QMJHL – It will be the 10th participation to the playoffs for the Titan, which was in Laval for 27 seasons from 1971 until 1998. The Titan will try to win their 6th President Cup of their history. The Titan won 4 times the cup in Laval in 1984, 1989, 1990 and 1993. Since they are in Bathurst, the Titan won the President cup one time in 1999.

LHJMQ -  Détenteur d’un nouveau record de 57 points en séries éliminatoires, Simon Gamache des Foreurs de Val-d’Or avait obtenu le trophéeGuy Lafleur à titre de « joueur le plus utile des séries » lors des éliminatoires de 2001.  Cette année, Adam Russo, Antoine Bergeron, Janis Sprukts, Danny Groulx, Matthew Lombardi, Daniel Boisclair sont certainement tous des candidats potentiels à l’heure actuelle. Les performances tout au long de cette grande finale serviront grandement les journalistes afin de déterminer le récipiendaire des séries 2002.

 

QMJHL – Last season, Simon Gamache broke a playoffs record for the most points, he got 57 and won the Guy Lafleur trophy for the most valuable player during the playoffs. Adam Russo, Antoine Bergeron, Janis Sprukts, Danny Groulx, Matthew Lombardi and Daniel Boisclair are some very good candidates at this time. The journalists will be able to choose the winner after watching them play during the finale.

L’équipe championne des séries représentera la LHJMQ lors de cette importante compétition qui commencera le samedi 18 mai pour se terminer le dimanche 26 mai.
